Experienced tutor is available to provide instruction and review of principles and practice in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. Assistance with MCAT/GRE preparation is available in these areas.
Summary of Experience: Tutor is a recently retired university professor who taught undergraduate organic chemistry and special topics graduate courses in organic chemistry (M. S. and Ph. D. level) at two major U. S. four-year universities with graduate programs during a 37 year career in teaching and research. Author of 6 books and 328 research publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
During the past 16 years tutor has contributed MCAT "units" (250 word technical passage + 10 associated questions) to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
Teaching Style: Individual tutorial sessions can be held face-to-face with students residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Online individual tutoring is provided via interactive Skype with screen-sharing. The screen-sharing feature permits chemical structures and reaction mechanisms to be drawn in real time during tutorial sessions. All visual materials thereby generated are saved as jpg files and then are sent to students at the conclusion of each session.
GRE/MCAT Prep: Tutorial assistance and instruction are available to help students who seek to improve their proficiency in organic chemistry and biochemistry in preparation for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and/or the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
Educational and Review Materials: Study materials. practice problems and sample exam questions are furnished in advance of each tutorial session to help ensure that the student is prepared to discuss specific topics in depth and to make the best use of available time.
Practice problems and sample exam questions are designed to test each student's critical understanding of subject matter presented in the review materials. Answers to practice problems and sample examination questions are provided.
Of Interest To: (i) Students currently enrolled in undergraduate organic chemistry who seek to improve their course grade. (ii) Advanced undergraduate students who have satisfactorily completed a two-semester lecture course (total 6 credit hours) in Sophomore-level organic chemistry and the corresponding organic chemistry laboratory course and who plan to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
